Take The First Step Toward Resolution

Millville among most dangerous places in New Jersey

On Behalf of Robinson & Robinson, LLC | Mar 6, 2019 | Criminal Defense

According to a recent report, New Jersey has made the list as one of the safest states in the country. According to the recent FBI Uniform Crime Report, New Jersey had an overall violent crime rate that was below half of the national average.

The state is also the third safest for property crimes, though one area, Millville, has a property crime rate higher than the national average. As a resident of Millville, it might not surprise you, especially if you’ve been accused of committing a property crime yourself. Millville is in the bottom five safest municipalities, and crime rates are approximately .002 per 1,000. The violent crime rate in Millville is also above the state’s average of 1.56 violent crimes per 1,000 people.

What does this mean for you as someone accused of a crime?

It doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but it can mean that the police are more active to crack down on crime. This can lead to more people facing allegations of theft or being accused of breaking the law, simply because there are more officers in the area.

While the 2019 report shows that New Jersey is among the safest states, part of that reason comes down to enforcement. You don’t want to deal with the law alone, especially when agencies are cracking down on crime.

If you’re accused of committing a crime in New Jersey, whether it’s in Millville or another area, make sure you exercise your right to an attorney, so you can protect your interests and make sure you don’t face unfair treatment from the authorities.
